TRC VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The Volunteer Program at TRC allows the visitor to participate and learn from the diverse activities that happen at this site.
It is a unique opportunity to become closely acquainted with the rainforest of Costa Rica, one of the most diverse in the world. At the same time, it is a knowledge-enriching experience in culture and language.
Volunteers and the TRC coordinator choose the project(s) according to:
- The volunteer’s previous experience
- Length of stay at the Reserve
- The particular interests of the Reserve and the volunteer
Volunteers have the opportunity to interact with Costa Ricans who work in different jobs within the Reserve. They also have the opportunity to experience the way of life in a rural Costa Rican community. Onsite housing is available, though food must be provided by the volunteer — an interesting opportunity to learn about Costa Rican cooking!
The work environment is pleasant. Volunteers work on a regular schedule Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, unless the project or volunteers require another schedule. Volunteers may also attend any activities delivered by TRC such as day or night tours, education programs and presentations.
